Blue Sound
An exhibition of paintings by Hannah Willson
Listen with your whole body
Everything is moving
All senses as one
I see painting as a physical response to the sensory world, and aim to paint visual experiences that immerse the senses through improvisational mark-making and colour.
I believe colour and shape can trigger a sense of sound; that painting can imitate sound and that this can translate into unseen sights, unheard sounds and unfelt feelings.
Blue Sound explores these relationships, bridging the gaps between the senses through the use of painterly rhythmic colour.
Lyrical and luminescent structures float, fade and dance like the sound of a ringing wine glass.
It is there.
Then it is gone.
It emerges, getting louder... louder... louder...
It does not shout but it can be heard.
